The Judge/Executive is the elected chief administrator of county government and executes the policies and budget set forth by the Fiscal Court. Reagan Taylor was first elected Judge/Executive in November 2014 and began his third term in 2023.
Reagan Taylor has called Madison County home his entire life. He sought out public service as a way to give back to a community that has given so much to him. After a successful business career, Reagan turned his career to the public service to lead Madison County government in a fiscally responsible, highly ethical and efficient way to manage the taxpayer investment.
Reagan’s priority is to ensure that we keep building a better Madison County and everyone in our community has access to the opportunity to succeed. He believes investing in people pays big dividends. Reagan believes it is his turn to give back to ensure that our children’s generation has access to the same opportunities that were available to him even though the county has experienced tremendous growth and is no longer the small, rural county of his childhood.
With a population of more than 95,000 and an annual county budget of $90 million, Madison is Kentucky’s ninth largest county. Counties are the cornerstone of Kentucky’s quality of life, whether geographically large or small, densely or sparsely populated. As state and local government evolve to meet the changing needs of the citizens we represent, counties will continue to play a prominent role.

- Chief elected administrator of county government including all daily operations
- Execute policies and budget set forth by Fiscal Court
- Provide executive leadership for county agencies and departments
- Administer regulations and mandates from state and federal legislation
The County Judge/Executive Office is responsible for implementing policy, as well as, achieving the County’s overall mission, goals, and objectives. Oversight includes managing day-to-day operations and functions of county government, while preparing the organization to address future challenges.
