Madison County EMS Joins Regional Blood Initiative

Starting June 1, Madison County EMS will begin carrying whole blood on emergency vehicles. This marks a significant advancement in trauma care made possible through a new regional partnership. In collaboration with the Kentucky Blood Center and EMS agencies from Lexington, Scott County, and Jessamine County, this program will enable emergency teams to provide immediate lifesaving transfusions before patients arrive at the hospital.

Every Second Counts

Pre-hospital whole blood transfusions can significantly improve patient survival rates. By equipping emergency vehicles with whole blood, EMS teams can provide immediate care, stabilizing patients while en route to the hospital for further treatment.
