2024 River Sweep

Madison and Clark Counties and the Kentucky River Authority teamed up for the 2024 River Sweep cleanup event on Saturday, June 8th, from 9 AM to 12 PM. This joint effort brought together volunteers who gathered to lend their support. The festivities began at the Boat Dock at Fort Boonesborough State Park. The annual event is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the cleanliness of the Kentucky River in Madison and Clark Counties.

Volunteers received complimentary t-shirts and enjoyed a free lunch after the cleanup. The River Sweep event welcomed individuals, businesses, clubs, and more, fostering a strong sense of unity and environmental responsibility.

We extend our gratitude to the Solid Waste Departments of Madison and Clark Counties, along with the Kentucky River Authority, for their essential roles in hosting and supporting the 2024 River Sweep. Also, a heartfelt thank you goes out to the Madison County Fire Department, the City of Richmond Fire Department, and all the dedicated volunteers and visitors.

We greatly appreciate all who participated in the River Sweep event. It was a success, and we hope to see everyone again next year! To get involved, please check our site calendar for future events and volunteer opportunities.
